VisiPlate-S: treating glaucoma during cataract surgery
About VisiPlate-S
- Compliments cataract surgery – VisiPlate-S is placed in the supraciliary space during cataract surgery.
- Innovative design – VisiPlate-S is a minimally-invasive device that is designed with a network of microchannels that creates aqueous outflow and lowers intraocular pressure
- Unique material properties – VisiPlate-S is an ultrathin implant designed to be non-scarring, soft, and flexible.
Why the Suprachoroidal Space
The suprachoroidal space forms a key segment of the uveoscleral outflow pathway, which may account for as much as 50–60% of the eye’s natural aqueous drainage, depending on age and other physiologic factors. VisiPlate‑S is designed to harness this native uveoscleral route by creating a stable, permanent access channel into the suprachoroidal space.
This implant space is easily accessed during conventional cataract surgery and is highly powerful, making it suitable to treat glaucoma at its earliest stages. VisiPlate-S is designed to require less post-operative management.
